Care and daily life
Breakfast, lunch and a snack at a shared table. And with it, learning independence: how to serve yourself, how to wash your hands, how to get dressed. Small skills that bring great freedom.
A public institution of Plav municipality · since 2012
Every morning at seven we open the doors of our centre and welcome children and young people into a warm, safe and encouraging environment.
We fill the day with friendship, learning and activities tailored to each child’s abilities and needs. Through exercise, music, creative work, play and shared meals we create a space where everyone feels accepted, valued and supported.
Because for us, progress has no single path and no single pace. Every small step matters, and every smile is a success.
At the end of the day, our organised transport brings the children safely back to their families.
Here children and young people learn the small things that change a family’s whole day: getting dressed on your own, pouring a drink without spilling it, waiting for your turn. Each on their own programme, at their own pace — because nobody learns the same way or at the same speed.
The centre exists because parents asked for it. It was founded in 2011 with the support of Plav municipality and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, and opened its doors on 17 September 2012. Support should be where the family lives, not hundreds of kilometres away.
Fifteen children, fifteen staff — which means there is time for everyone. The team includes a social worker, a psychologist, a physiotherapist, an educator, medical staff, a care assistant, a cook and a driver. We work in a 242 m² building with a yard that has a swing, a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and a basketball hoop.
Everything we do has one goal: that every child here feels accepted, valued and supported.

Three sessions a day, each child on their own plan. Physiotherapy for the body, the sensory room for calm and focus, occupational therapy for hands and patience. When needed, a specialist doctor comes in.
Music on Monday, paint on Tuesday, craft on Wednesday, music again on Thursday, drawing on Friday. Wednesdays and Fridays we head to the sports hall — because the day does not end at the table.
The minibus picks the children up in the morning and brings them home in the afternoon. Parents get advice and support, and children who attend kindergarten or school get extra help.
Our day has its own rhythm — familiar and predictable, because feeling safe begins with knowing what comes next. This is what an ordinary day at the centre looks like.
Your child is welcome here. Call us or simply come by — we will show you the rooms, introduce the team, and answer every question honestly and without hurry.
We organise transport to the centre and back home.
Two meals and a snack on every working day.
Weekdays from 07:00 to 15:00.
Support and training for parents, in cooperation with school and kindergarten.
Project
The centre is opening a room for assistive technology for children and young people with developmental disabilities. An assessment of users’ needs for assistive technology is under way.
RTCG, Standard and Cetinjski list have reported on the project.
